15.  Sergeant Lake Chain (Otter Creek)

COMPELLING...too far for a one day trip (unless you start early)...better planned as an overnight expedition...this is a low-gradient route with numerous oxbows in the creek system...a significant portion of each lake is carpeted with waterlilies which serves to slow down even the most vigorous of paddlers...large sections of reeds makes for a a bit of guesswork as to where the channel is located.  However, this is certainly a scenic and secluded route and well-worth the effort.

Length: ~ 30.0 km

Time of year:  All summer (mid-May to late September)

Experience required:  Novice

Noteworthy features:  The key feature of this route is that it links up six small lakes - includes a diversity of forest types

Access and parking: Turn south at km 1 off of Mistik's E/W Road on a small trail which winds its way through the pine to the north end of Sergeant Lake (also includes a cabin site).  Travel past the cabin site towards the lake where you will find a place to park and turn around.

Start location:  Dallyn's cabin on the north end of Sergeant Lake (use the trail which starts at km 1 off of Mistik's E/W Road)

Take out location:  Otter Creek Bridge (Hwy 904)
