Kimball Lake

Picture
While there is no end to the windsurfing possibilities in the Meadow Lake area, Kimball Lake is the most windsurfer-friendly.  Kimball Lake offers lots of beach front to rig up, a sandy shoreline for easy and comfortable entry and exit and consistent windspeeds and windflow patterns. The most common wind conditions throughout the summer season are typically westerly winds at ~ 20 to 25 km/hr so larger sail sizes (> 7.0 sq m) work best.  A couple of times during the summer months, wind speeds can reach 40 to 50 km/hr and more appropriate sail sizes are in the 4.5 to 6.0 sq m.  The main public beach in front of the Kimball Lake store works really well for rigging up and sailing.
